Everyday Tools

Everyday tools for the jobs that fit in no other drawer: numbers, colors, date codes, files and your IP address.

This is the drawer for tools that are neither about text nor about code. Each one answers a single, concrete question.

Numbers and dates. The Roman numeral converter turns numbers and whole dates into Roman numerals and back, and shows each step. The expiration date code converter reads the packed date codes printed on packaging, such as a year followed by the day of the year.

Color. Hex to RGB converts between the two ways of writing a screen color that CSS defines. Hex to Pantone and RGB to Pantone suggest the nearest entries from an approximate table; they are a starting point for a conversation with a printer, not a substitute for a physical color guide, and the pages explain why.

Files and connections. The ZIP converter packs files into a ZIP archive without uploading them.

What is my IP address shows the public address of your connection; it is one of the few tools on this site that has to ask an outside service, and it only does so when you press the button.

The card type checker names the card network from the first six digits of a card number and deliberately accepts no more than six.

And when the work is done, there is tic-tac-toe.

Unit conversions, date differences, countdowns, percentages and health calculators are not here on purpose. They live on our specialist sites, which are linked at the bottom of every page.

Four everyday tools with one input each: the Roman numeral converter turns 2026 into MMXXVI, hex to RGB turns #FF6600 into rgb(255, 102, 0), the expiration date code converter reads 24035 as 4 February 2024, and the card type checker names 424242 as Visa.
Each tool answers one question, so the answer fits on one line.
